I graduated about 3 years ago with a degree in marketing. i completed a 6months internship after. since i've been back i have been struggling to get a job and is feeling fustrated. I am currently doing a 6months online course in digital marketing inorder to help with job opportunity.
Is there any thing i can do to help get at least an interview?
Answer:
Things are tuff for people in your age group (I bet you're getting tired of hearing that). Here are some suggestions that I have just from the information that you have provided.
- Be available to move anywhere in the country for a job opportunity. State on your resume that you are will in to relocate anywhere.
- Be creative with your experience. Set up a blog to share your marketing ideas. I've gotten a recruiting job before because I had listed the this blog on my resume. Use your blog to market things. There are plenty of advertising that you can incorporate into your blog.
- Send your resume to companies that employ people like you even if they do not have active job openings. Use LinkedIN for the research.
- Make connections with people that can help you. Do this by actually calling them on the phone instead of emailing. If you see a job opening don't just submit your resume through their web site, actually pick up the phone and call the company. Ask to speak to someone in the Marketing department (Don't ask to speak to the recruiter because you want to make an impression on the hiring manager).
Hope it was helpful. Good luck and be persistent.
